First avoid R8 Collets, they grip only on the outside end of the shank and are crap. My go to collets are ER, they grip across the whole shank and do not slip. Secondly, when I want to drill accurately, I try to use a collet to drive the drill bit, never a chuck. ER collets are readily available and inexpensive.
